Hiking from easy hikes to the three thousand meter peaks
HIKING IN PARTSCHINS
Holidays without car
WALKING ON 3 LEVELS:
Leisurely walks and high-altitude hikes at 3,000m a.s.l.
The leisurely walks along the ancient irrigation channels (called Waalwege in German) have magnificent views of the valley below and the Parcines waterfall, which can be reached by shuttle or on foot.
Fit and energetic hikers will be keen to tackle the Merano High Mountain Trail and the Spronserseen lakes while mountaineers can choose from the thirteen 3,000-m summits to climb in the Texelgruppe Nature Park. Thanks to its relatively mild climate, many of the hiking trails in Parcines remain open from spring to late autumn.
...Considered one of the most spectacular in the Alps, the Parcines waterfall cascades down the rock face from a height of almost 100 m. It is particularly impressive in early spring with the melting of snow, when as many as 6,000 liters of water per second flow into the Zielbach torrent.
The Merano High Mountain Trail may be reached using the panoramic Texelbahn Cable Car from Parcines. Each of the six stages of the Merano High Mountain Trail can be broken down, without having to walk the entire length in one go. A very rewarding part of the Merano High Mountain trail is the stage from the Texelbahn Cable Car mountain station cross the Gorge of a Thousand Steps (1000-Stufen-Schlucht) to the Unterstell Cable Car in Naturno/Naturns.
Crystal-clear reflections in the Spronsertal Valley
Approximately 15 kilometers north of Parcines/Partschins, ten Spronserseen lakes nestle at varying altitudes between 2,120m and 2,590m a.s.l. on a high mountain plateau in the heart of the Texelgruppe Nature Park. The largest of these lakes, the Langsee and the Grünsee lakes, together with the other eight lakes, form part of what is the most extensive high altitude lake system in Europe.
...is reachable from our house in about 10 minutes on foot. On the southern-face of the Texelgruppe Nature Park, the Texelbahn Cable Car links Parcines/Partschins to the Sonnenberg mountain. The renowned Merano High Mountain Trail starts from the Texelbahn Cable Car mountain station.
